Mazda Teams up with DonorsChoose to “Clear the List" for Teachers this Holiday Season

$250,000 Donation and Matching Program to Provide Essential Resources for Schools in Need to help Students and Teachers Thrive

IRVINE, Calif. (December 3, 2024) – This Giving Tuesday, Mazda North American Operations announced throughout the holidays, it is donating up to $250,000 to support students and teachers in low-income communities through a partnership with DonorsChoose, a non-profit organization that allows individuals to donate directly to public school classroom projects. Through its “Clear the List” initiative, Mazda will help fulfill teachers’ wish lists for essential classroom resources, creating vibrant learning environments where students can thrive.

Throughout the season of giving, as part of its $250,000 donation, Mazda will match up to $210,000 for donations to hunger, care and warmth-related projects on DonorsChoose, doubling each contribution's impact. Mazda recognizes nutritious food, hygiene products and a comfortable environment are essential for student and teacher well-being and is committed to supporting these critical needs.

“We’ve always been inspired by 'Clear the List' initiatives, and Mazda is honored to partner with DonorsChoose this holiday season to make a real difference in students' lives,” said Brad Audet, Chief Marketing Officer at Mazda North American Operations. “By ensuring classrooms have the resources they need, we're helping students thrive and discover their passions through the power of education.”

In addition to hunger, care and warmth-related donations, up to $40,000 in total will be donated to select schools across the country this holiday season. Working with DonorsChoose, Mazda will identify schools where these funds can best address critical needs throughout the winter.

“During winter, so many teachers go the extra mile to ensure their students have what they need, particularly students whose families can’t afford enough food and warm clothes,” said Alix Guerrier, CEO of DonorsChoose. “That’s why we’re so grateful that Mazda is focusing on this need in its inaugural partnership with DonorsChoose. Mazda is uplifting teachers who are using DonorsChoose for the first time as a way to support students and their families, and as a result countless students will have the clothes and snacks they need this winter to keep warm and help focus on learning.”
