STATEMENT ON SAFETY RECALL 7225C

Trailer Hitch Bolts Improperly Torqued on Certain MY2024-2025 CX-50 Vehicles

WASHINGTON, DC. (March 24, 2025) – Mazda North American Operations (MNAO), on behalf of Mazda Motor Corporation, has filed a safety defect notification with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for a concern which exists on certain MY2024-2025 CX-50 vehicles.

Due to the fastening bolts securing the trailer hitch assembly to the vehicle not being sufficiently tightened during installation, the assembly could become loose or detached. Over time and continuous use, the trailer hitch assembly bolts may continue to loosen, potentially causing the assembly to separate from the vehicle body during towing or normal driving conditions. A detached trailer hitch assembly may pose a hazard on the road and increase the risk of a crash. Abnormal noises may be heard from the rear of the vehicle while driving.

There have been no reports of any accidents or injuries due to the defect.

Approximately 63 2024-2025MY CX-50 vehicles are affected in the U.S. and U.S. Territories.

Affected owners will be notified by U.S. Mail. Please check mazdarecallinfo.com or nhtsa.gov for the latest updates.
