STATEMENT ON SAFETY RECALL 7525E

Air Bags May Fail to Deploy after Drained Battery on Certain

MY2024-2025 Mazda3 and CX-30 Vehicles

WASHINGTON, DC. (June 6, 2025) – Mazda North American Operations (MNAO), on behalf of Mazda Motor Corporation, has filed a safety defect notification with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for a concern which exists on certain MY2024-2025 Mazda3 and CX-30 vehicles.

On certain MY2024-2025 Mazda3 and CX-30 vehicles, if the battery becomes completely depleted by leaving the ignition switch in the “ON” position for two hours or more without the engine running, the Sophisticated Air Bag Sensor (SAS) unit will store an internal fault. This defect does not occur if the battery is depleted through any other means. If the battery is then recharged and the vehicle is restarted, the air bag warning light will illuminate in the instrument cluster. In this condition, the air bags will not deploy in the event of a crash.

There have been no reports of any accidents or injuries due to the defect.

Approximately 51,857 MY2024-2025 Mazda3 vehicles and 119,555 MY2024-2025 CX-30 vehicles are affected in the U.S. and U.S. Territories.

Affected owners will be notified by U.S. Mail. Please check mazdarecallinfo.com or nhtsa.gov for the latest updates.
