STATEMENT ON SAFETY RECALL 7825I

Vehicle May Stall Due to Incorrect Fuel Level on Certain

MY2025 Mazda CX-70 and MY2024-2025 CX-90 Vehicles

WASHINGTON, DC. (September 4, 2025) – Mazda North American Operations (MNAO), on behalf of Mazda Motor Corporation, has filed a safety defect notification with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for a concern which exists on certain MY2025 Mazda CX-70 and MY2024-2025 CX-90 mild hybrid electric vehicles (MHEV).  Note that plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) are not affected by this concern.

On certain MY2025 CX-70 and MY2024-2025 CX-90 MHEV vehicles, the fuel gauge in the instrument cluster may show fuel remaining despite an empty fuel tank. If the vehicle incorrectly indicates an inaccurate fuel level, there is a risk of running out of fuel while driving. This would result in an engine stall, and the vehicle cannot be restarted, increasing the risk of a crash. When fuel containing ethanol is used, it may react with materials on the sending unit circuit board in the sub-tank. This reaction can create a buildup that interferes with the gauge’s function that may cause the display on the instrument cluster to read an incorrect fuel level. There is no identification of any warning that can occur.

There have been no reports of any accidents or injuries due to the defect

Approximately 16,056 MY2025 Mazda CX-70 vehicles and 88,798 MY2024-2025 Mazda CX-90 MHEV vehicles are affected in the U.S. and U.S. Territories.

Affected owners will be notified by U.S. Mail. Please check mazdarecallinfo.com or nhtsa.gov for the latest updates.
