Following the recent announcement that Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) would extend their partnership agreement for Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, the Monterey County Board of Supervisors issued a resolution on May 23, recognizing MNAO as a partner of the County.
The resolution, given to MNAO by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors, honors Mazda for their continued support of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca through their exclusive title sponsorship of the track—a partnership that began in 2001.
Robert Davis, senior vice president of MNAO accepted the resolution on behalf of the company, alongside Mary Adams, the district 5 supervisor from the Monterey County Board of Supervisors.
As Mazda has long since referenced Mazda Raceway as their home away from home, the resolution recognizes significant programs and promotional activities hosted by Mazda that bring attention to the track and local community, including vehicle testing, training for up-and-coming race car drivers, media track events, new vehicle launches and utilizing the track for activities focused on giving back to the community.
Through the resolution, the County states they are “Proud to acknowledge and commend Mazda North American Operations for their contributions to Monterey County and their continued support of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.”
The Sports Car Racing Associations of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP) was also recognized for celebrating their sixtieth anniversary at the track—dually noting that in 2001, Mazda became the official sponsor of the raceway—renaming the track to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
