Mazda CX-90 PHEV Named a Winner in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 Best Adventure Vehicles Awards

CX-90 PHEV recognized for its versatility, efficiency, and capability in road trip and camping categories

IRVINE, Calif. (May 27, 2026) – The 2026 Mazda CX-90 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) has been named a winner in U.S. News & World Report’s inaugural 2026 Best Adventure Vehicles Awards, earning top recognition in two categories: Best Midsize Plug-In Hybrid SUV for Road Trips and Best Midsize Plug-In Hybrid SUV for Camping.

“We created the Best Adventure Vehicles awards in response to growing enthusiasm for vehicles that support a wide range of travel lifestyles, from trail driving to extended road trips and camping,” said John Vincent, U.S. News senior editor, vehicle testing. “The CX-90 PHEV stood out for its balance of efficiency, comfort, and capability, making it a strong fit for multiple types of adventure use.”

The program highlights top vehicles across four categories: Best Off-Road Trucks, Best Off-Road SUVs, Best Vehicles for Road Trips, and Best Vehicles for Camping. Evaluation criteria are tailored to each segment. Off-road categories consider factors such as all-terrain tires, locking differentials, approach and departure angles. Road trip and camping categories evaluate fuel economy, interior space, versatility, and comfort, and incorporate each vehicle’s overall score from the U.S. News Best Cars rankings as a measure of overall quality.

“Mazda is proud to see the CX-90 PHEV recognized in these adventure-focused categories,” said Mazda North American Operations President and CEO Tom Donnelly. “It’s a vehicle designed to give drivers confidence and flexibility, whether they are on a long road trip or heading out for a weekend outdoors.”

The 2026 Mazda CX-90 PHEV continues to earn recognition for its safety and overall excellence, including the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation, reinforcing its position as one of the safest three-row SUVs available.
